Christopher Decker – Director
Dr Christopher Decker, the founder of Oxford Economic Consulting, is an internationally recognised expert in regulation and competition economics. He has over 25 years’ experience during which he has combined an academic career at the University of Oxford with practical advisory work for government bodies, regulators and private clients.
He has been engaged by some of the world’s largest companies and leading law firms and have advised international organizations (World Bank, OECD, APEC, European Commission, European Parliament and European Central Bank); public bodies (UK Cabinet Office, National Infrastructure Commission); and government departments and regulators in many parts of the world.
Christopher acted as an expert in several pioneering matters, including arbitrations involving awards of $1 billion and judicial proceedings involving criminal penalties and fines of over €1 billion. He has been engaged as an expert for market investigations and numerous access and regulatory disputes.
He is the author of a leading textbook on economic regulation (Modern Economic Regulation, Cambridge University Press, 2nd edition 2023) and publishes regularly in antitrust, regulation and economics journals.
Christopher is a Research Fellow specialising in law and economics and regulation at the University of Oxford, and has previously held senior positions in regulators and government, research institutes and in international consultancies.
He holds a Ph.D. (D.Phil) from the University of Oxford and is the editor of a weekly update on new economic papers on regulation.
